24-7 South America - Carlos Sanchez reports from Mexico - 4 May 2005

"These past couple of months I've been caught up in my
university, I was doing numbers yesterday as I went to the church
offices.

On my last trimester I spent about 50-55 hours a week in school. As a
result of this I feel irrevocably unproductive. extra time in campus was due to
football training (which was brutally boring this year) and massive amount of
homework.

Ministry work was nixxed, I get flashbacks... (you know like small
post-apocalyptic visions of disorganization) when I think of the emails that
need to be answered and the projects that are way past deadline. I shudder to
think that I haven't done any administrative work. shame on me!

Basically my spiritual life merged with school. I don't pray at home anymore,
I've transfered my praying to campus premises, I took my small New Testament and read randomly in the hallways. Needless to say today I see God's grace in my life. There are 2 main ministry focuses, one is ORAzion (prayer in schools, which I lead) and Oracion 24-7 for México and Latin-America.

ORAzion consists on commiting yourself to pray EVERYDAY in school. I basically
told people: cut the crap and drop the excuses, just pray, 5-10 minutes
everyday. That was back in January. Everyone that commited got a small cloth
bracelet (cheap kind, not very nice lookin' :P). Ever since we started I
haven't had any contact with these teenagers and yesterday and last week, I was very glad to see people wearing the bracelet and still commited. beautiful.

24-7 México is upside down, mainly cos the leader is a joke. ... wait, I'm the
leader, scratch that out :P We haven't had a single "official" prayer room in a
while and basically zero public exposure for about 6 months. However we have 2
main and big projects in the furnace that I beg and plead to you to keep in
occasional prayer:

  - 24-7Mexico music CD: ok, a tricky one. A friend to the movement told me: I'll
pay, I'll work, I'll produce... but I want 24-7 Mexico to have a music CD.
Please pray for my friend Omar, who (was kidnapped - by the way - and with a gun pointed to his head he witnessed about Christ until he made his abducters cry, then he was released without a scratch) has a humble heart and honestly desires to serve this movement.

  - Transmission '05: My friend Diego Martin is taking a group to this missions
festival in England, so far things are shaky and we're not 100% sure if this
will be possible or not. We're praying, this could be a key event to raise up
some of the people in our team. (http://festival4mission.typepad.com/)

One of the reliefs to not see any prayer rooms in my country is to observe the 3
new possible leaders emerging in South America. Countries like Dominican
Republic
, Argentina, Chile and possibly Colombia are experiencing 24-7prayer.

It's crazy to get their emails "we're doing this, this happened, we plan on x
and y, etc"
Please pray for me to be a good communicator and connector the the
bigger picture for these people.

Exciting, but a lot of work that needs to be birthed out of prayer. Please pray
for me, I'm compelled to serve more during this next couple of months, with the
goal of growing spiritually. honest! :)

Also, pray for me cos I now live on my own and my house looks very manly. by
manly I mean it's a mess, like the ones you see in the movies."
