Pete Greig Crowd Surfs Mayor On You TubeCarla Harding - 1 Jun 2009
The Mayor of Worthing had an unconventional blessing after his inauguration a few weeks ago. Pete Greig and Carla Harding from 24-7 Prayer were hosting UK event 'The Big Church Day Out' and orchestrated the 14,000 person strong prayer that literally lifted the Mayor and his office to God.
"The Mayor of Worthing has become an internet star after footage of him crowd-surfing above 14,000 people at a Christian rock festival was posted on YouTube." Reported the Telegraph "We're doing this partly because it is fun," explained Pete to an excited crowd at the sell out event... "but also as way of saying that we commit to lifting him and other dignitaries to Lord." As Mr Noel Atkins, the Mayor of Worthing was surfed through the crowd there was much excitement and many prayers. One member of the crowd commented to the Daily Mail that Mr Atkins is, "the coolest mayor I've ever met".
