Update from Lyndall who still needs your prayers - 24 Jun 2005
Lyndall Bywater, the Salvation Army's 24-7 prayer network co-ordinator for the UK, updates us on progress with her eyesight. Lyndall, who is visually impaired, had an accident a few months ago which appears to have further damaged her vision:
"My vision had returned completely to normal by the end of April, but a few weeks ago it deteriorated again. I saw the consultant yesterday and he has come to the conclusion that the retina has detached (something he feared all along). So he has recommended I have an 'endoscopic vitrectomy'... for the lay folk amongst you, that means they reattach the retina by inserting a tiny camera into the eye, to see what they're doing, rather than opening the eye up - which could
be catastrophic, in my case.
The op will be at the Western Eye Hospital in London on 1st July, and it'll mean just a 48-hour stay in there. The op isn't particularly complex, and the prognosis is a bit hesitant. It might improve things, but on the other hand it might not. But either way, it should hopefully stop things getting worse.
So, the long and short of it is that I am still as much in the hands of the Lord as ever, which is a good place to be all in all! I feel very peaceful about it all, and am just praying that if God doesn't want me to go through the op for any reason, he will do something so dramatic in the next 2 weeks that the doctors will change their minds.
If that doesn't, I will be quite happy to have the surgery.
So please could you pray that God does the necessary healing, either
through the doctors or in his own way... whichever is fine with me!
Thanks again - you're all a huge blessing! "
