Amazing stories from SA, and please pray more for Pete and Samie! - 29 Jun 2006
Hi guys
Carla and I wanted just to let u know how incredible things are here in Sth
africa. This movement we call 24-7 is truly just that - a movement out of
control, messy and possibly double the size we ever imagined! Carla's gonna
fill in the details when we get home but here's some bullet points for
prayer and praise:
Today we met a guy who was dead 8 hours of an overdose before being raised
from the dead thanks - he says- to the prayers of his mother's 24-7
network! I've rarely seen someone so full of Gods joy.
Also a woman who is establishing a Boiler Room in Port Elizabeth in a drug
community told me how (recently) she led a dealer to the Lord who had
previously given her a death threat. She used to run Jackie Pullinger's
Indian ministry.
Yesterday, at Nadines church, a large black mama who works with drug addicts
here in Cape Town testified: "I have been workin' with 24-7 for a few months
now and since getting non-stop prayer going 5 of the drug addicts have told
me that they have lost all desire to take the very drugs they were addicted
to!"
Also yesterday we heard about the movement in Zimbabwe where they could not
find a safe place to pray so they went out into the country and used 'Boiler
rocks' and 'Boiler trees' as places to pray instead.
God is on the move - this thing is out of control! So many amazing things
are happening here in Africa spiralling out from that 1st prayer room,
though really its just Gods grace & nothing whatsoever to do with us.
Carla has been preaching like you wouldn't believe - and the Africans have
been loving it. All the notable biblical depth she has gained from Transit
is being wrapped up in a passion wasted on a white body! You'd all be very
proud of her!
Politically its been complex to say the least, and we've needed great
wisdom - one more tricky meeting to come in the morning (Wed). Please pray
for us.
I'm hurting too, though - having learned tonight that Samie had a really bad
fit yesterday in my absence. By luck / God's grace her dad happened to pop
in otherwise it would have left her fitting on her own in front of the kids.
I feel so, so bad for being away. It was her first for 6 months, as you
know, so unbelievably demoralizing. I'm seriously thinking of stopping all
travelling abroad. It's just not worth the risk, no matter how releasing &
encouuraging Samie is). All I want to do right now is jump on the first
plane home. Mind you our flight does leave this afternoon anyway and gets in
to LHR thurs a.m.
I would really, really appreciate your prayers for all this. ...
Love
Pete
