God Speaks, Campuses PrayCarla Harding - 25 Nov 2009
I read this great report from students in Iowa, USA on the Campus America site this morning. As we approach the launch of an unbroken year of 24-7 Prayer across the University and College campuses of the US, it's amazing to see how God is weaving lives, prayers and visions together...
"In January 2005, God woke up Pete Greig out of a dead sleep and spoke to him to call the college campuses of America to pray. That moment birthed the dream that has fueled the Campus America movement ever since.
Unbeknownst to Greig, that same month a band of students at Central College in Pella, Iowa launched into a semester of prayer. Jon Hietbrink, a 2002 alumnus of Central, was part of the leadership team for InterVarsity that catalyzed the season of prayer. Jon recalled the time of worship they had on the opening night of prayer. Though many had signed up to pray at that point, they were still struggling to fill even the first 24 hours.
“I remember being in the back of the room, praying and asking Jesus what we needed to do to fill the spots,” Jon said, recounting the powerful worship they experienced that night. “One thing led to another and it caught on. People started signing up and it took off.”
