Prayer Rooms & Time ZonesJonny Nott - 8 Dec 2009

Connecting an international prayer movement can present some logistical hurdles!  Not least of which is how we represent 24-7 Prayer Rooms and different time zones.  We wanted to let you know about a simple but important change to better represent the global nature of all God's doing...

Until now, each Prayer Room registered has been displayed in the same time zone as our web site, which is run from a server in Worcestershire, England. In reality, the places people are praying simultaneously across the nations are in many different time zones. Whilst some are up early to pray before they start their day, for others it's a late-night slot, possibly already into the next day.

To begin to put things right, as of today we're asking you to let us know what time zone your Prayer Room is happening in when you register. We'll be continuing to update different areas of our web site, RSS feeds and other content to utilise this information.

There are some great new tools being created behind the scenes, which time zone information is going to be foundational to, and we're very excited about those. Keep reading this blog to hear more in the future. Also, feel free to use the comments (below) to give us any feedback on the prayer room registration process, or other parts of the site.

Most of all, thanks for using our site and helping to spread the prayer!

Jonny Nott is part of the team that looks after the web operations of 24-7 Prayer International. He lives in sunny Loughborough in the UK, where he's exploring church with a community called Open Heaven. When not cooking up 24-7's latest online endeavors, he can be found buzzing from place to place, serving different organisations, hunting for England's rarely-seen surfable waves, or mixing a band in a dark, smelly music venue somewhere...
