Need Prayer? Tweet a 24-7 Prayer RoomCarla Harding - 15 Mar 2010

Influential London Church, Holy Trinity Brompton, have opened up their lent 24-7 Prayer Room to stretch beyond the walls of their congregation.  The Church known worldwide for founding Alpha, a course exploring the Christian faith, have been praying 24-7 since the 7th of March and between now and this Friday 19th they are offering to pray for you.

Their Prayer Room features a Live Twitter feed and people are invited to send prayer requests directly into the room, which will be displayed on a screen and covered in prayer.

To send your prayer requests simply:

  1. Log into Twitter
  2. Search for and then choose to ‘follow’ HTB247PRAYER
  3. Send your prayer request to them as a 'direct message'.

The messages are automatically re-tweeted into the Prayer Room and read by whoever is covering the prayer hour at that time.

Due to the way Twitter works there may be a short delay between ‘following’ HTB247PRAYER and getting to send them a 'direct message', as they need to ‘follow’ you in return.  The team are endeavoring to stay on top of this so if you have trouble maybe wait fifteen minutes and try again.

I love this prayer experiment and think it’s a great way to open our hearts and prayers to our global family.  Are you organizing a 24-7 Prayer Room soon?  Why not start a Twitter account of your own and invite requests from your town or nation.

Have you tried other ways of taking prayer requests?  We’d love to hear about them and may even share some of the best suggestions here on the 24-7 Blog.
