No Longer Fading - Poetry from IcelandScot Bower - 3 May 2010

Eric and Katie StClair live in one of the most creative neighborhoods on the planet; Downtown Rekyavik, Iceland.

Iceland has been in the news often in the last few weeks as a volcanic ash cloud disrupted flight plans for travellers all over the world. The country has also been hit harder than most by the global economic crisis and made the headlines last year as Icelandic banks collapsed leaving debts running into billions of Euros.

In the midst of that chaos though Iceland remains a place of peace, Eric wrote recently of the positive Icelandic attitude even in the face of such setbacks.

Eric and Katie have been living in Iceland for a few years now and are part of a growing 24-7 Prayer community. Eric works in music production and management and has just finished his first book. Iceland it appears draws creativity from you!

Eric's book is a collection of 19 poems inspired by the rugged and stark beauty of Iceland and is beautifully illustrated by the Irish artist Steph Newell.

This extract from the book is the poem entitled 'El'

I am so weak!
I have convinced myself of your elusiveness.
That this distance between us is who you are.
The truth though is dark and insidious, the truth is that I am selfish.

It is said you wrap yourself in light.
I wrap myself in layer upon layer of self gratification, an endless ravel of constant diversion.
This distance between us in immeasurable and crushing.
Why can't I choose you?
Why can't I break these chains that bind me?
How long must this distance stand between us?

I need to feel you now, safely clinched in your embrace.

Remove this darkness from my heart and fill me with your beautiful healing light.

Proceeds from the sales of the book (priced at $15 plus postage) will be used to help support Eric and Katie in their life and mission in Iceland. You can order your copy by emailing Eric.
