Transatlantic Miracle HealingScot Bower - 6 May 2010
This inspiring story of transatlantic healing came to our attention this week from UK church Holy Trinity Brompton.
My daughter Susan almost died last year. What started as a routine out-patient surgery, for a polyp on her cervix, became a nightmare of botched events. She was taken back into surgery, but her stomach was not emptied beforehand and she aspirated, vomited, on the operating table and it went into her lungs, causing pneumonia. Then she contracted C-difficile. By this time, I had arrived (in America where they live). When I first saw her, she had tubes coming in and out of her in every direction, was intubated, so she couldn’t speak, and only opened her eyes briefly. She was in so much pain that she was on heavy doses of morphine.
Susan and her family and lots of their friends are Christians and many people were praying non-stop. I sent an email every day to my friends, both here in the UK and in the States. One of my friends here is Amanda from HTB and she was included in my emails. One day when I had already left the hospital for the night, Susan became very agitated. She said she didn’t want to close her eyes because she was afraid she wouldn’t wake up and asked if she was dying. Susan asked for me and her children to come back to see her (her husband never left her).
That night, in the UK, Amanda was awakened by the Lord and heard “a huge voice urging me to plead to the Lord to save Susan.” She couldn’t have known about what was happening that night in America.
The following morning we were told that Susan had done an 180 degree turn overnight!
I know there are many reasons for us to pray – it’s talking to God and we need to do that. But when the enemy is waging a battle - what would happen if we didn’t pray? God used all the prayers that were sent up to Him through Susan’s friends and family, I know. And I know that the Holy Spirit woke Amanda up to pray.
After 18 days in hospital, Susan was sent home with the C-difficile gone and the pneumonia under control.
I'm so very thankful for stories like this one that demonstrates the
power of prayer and the mysterious ways in which God chooses to work. If
you've got a similar story why not tell us about it in the comments box
