USA: MidWest Pastors Hear Of 24-7 - 16 Nov 2004

At a hotel in Kansas City today Pete Greig, one of the founders of 24-7, spoke to more than 150 of the region's church leaders about 24-7 prayer. An anonymous businessman had also purchased a copy of Red Moon Rising as a personal gift for every single pastor present. Pete told stories and talked about the chemistry between prayer and mission. 'God is inviting us on an inward journey of spiritual formation,' he said, 'but also an outward journey of social transformation. Wouldn't it be incredible to see houses of prayer established in the high places of your city impacting the arts, influencing business and touching the poor?' he asked.

Gary Schmitz (left) of Deerbrook Covenant Church in Lees Summit, shared about his church's incredible experiences through 24-7 prayer.

They had tentatively decided to pray 24-7 for a week, launching 20th September and yet they are still going strong almost two months later with plans to continue through Christmas to the new year! "Thanks to 24-7, I'm living in every pastor's dream," said Gary to the crowd. "people are praying and there would be an outcry if we tried to stop now."

"Thanks to 24-7, I'm living in every pastor's dream.."

We'll be bringing you more stories from the Deerbrook Prayer Room soon (and believe me there are some truly wonderful and amazing things going on). But in the meantime, please pray for the impact of today's meeting as so many key people read the book and consider the way ahead for their churches and their city. The potential for Kansas City is massive.
