Countdown to the Global Day of PrayerScot Bower - 17 May 2010

We are just 6 days away from the largest prayer meeting on planet earth… ever!

10 years ago Christians in Cape Town, South Africa began gathering on Pentecost Sunday to pray for their nation. As the years went by they found others from across their continent joining with them and then in 2005 they began calling the church worldwide to unite with them in a Global Day of Prayer (GDOP). Each year more and more nations became involved until last year every country on earth was represented and a truly global cry went up to our God in heaven.

This year on 23rd May 2010 people will gather around the world in homes, churches, public buildings and even sports stadiums to pray. The GDOP website has details of each prayer event that has been registered, check there to find out where your nearest gathering is taking place (and leave us a comment below to let us know where you'll be praying too!)

In the run up to GDOP many groups choose to pray non-stop for 10 days and 24-7 Prayer have worked with our friends at GDOP to create a 10 Day Prayer Guide for Youth which you can download for free. If you'd like more ideas about how to get more involved with GDOP then you can visit the 24-7Prayer GDOP page or the GDOP international website.
