24-7 Prayer in UK Parliament this week!Phil Togwell - 7 Jun 2010
“Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well…” (1 Timothy:2)
For the seventh year in a row 24-7 Prayer is joining with the Christians in Parliament and Christians in Government networks for a Week of Prayer around Westminster in London; the seat of government for the United Kingdom.
This is an amazing time to be praying. Not just for talking about politics, and about those who rule and govern us in different ways… but for praying.
After an expenses scandal that filled the British media earlier this year, and the recent National Elections, we have an opportunity to bring the countries that make up the UK before God as our leaders process great change.
The Week of Prayer will be packed with all kinds of prayer… daily prayer walking around the Parliamentary estate, prayer groups meeting in each of the Party fellowship head-quarters, rooms open for prayer in the House of Commons and the House of Lords, prayer services in St Mary’s Undercroft and St Margaret’s, prayer in offices and corridors, maybe even up inside Big Ben and down in the crypt. In every way we know how, and for everyone we know, and especially for our rulers and our Government, we will be praying.
The Week of Prayer kicked off at the weekend, with churches all over the UK joining in by using the ’service prayer guide’ that Phil Anderson (24-7 Prayer/SUSA) designed. And then it ends next Friday evening with a big celebration at the Immanuel Centre, Marsham Street. If you live in the UK or are visiting this week you are very welcome to join in with us.
