Arts Festival in America's Most Diverse NeighborhoodPeter Wohler - 13 Jul 2010

In America's 'most diverse neighborhood' less than 2 weeks from now the Source Boiler Room will be hosting there 8th annual Fallout Arts Festival.

The combination of Poverty, Internationals, and the Arts make an incredible backdrop for a group to see the complexities and the opportunities to impact our globally diverse world and be a light in culture.

The Fallout Art Fest in Minneapolis includes: 4 stages (main, fallout, studio 3 and demo), 30+ bands/performers, 1,500-2,000 free meals served, skateramp, community mural, demonstrations, kids games and one amazing drum jam fire-spinning worship finale.

The festivities begin the Monday or Tuesday before Art Fest with an Art Intensive week (20th - 25th July) hosted by the Source Boiler Room. This week consists of workshops, seminars by various artists, an interactive art party (Drum and Easel) at a local shelter, a concert, an indie film fest and finally the Art Fest on 24th July from noon to 10pm. Visual arts, performing arts, music, dance are all a part of the Fallout Art Fest. We cannot do this without the 100+ volunteers that come to help host the event or all of the artists/performers who come to be part of the festival.

This is just one way in which the Source express themselves and serve their local community. The festival has a massive impact on their diverse, creative, urban neighborhood with up to 2000 people coming along each year...

…And the Source would love you to be a part of it!

  • If you're anywhere near local, or if you fancy making a special journey to join them the Source would really appreciate your help.
The event needs +100 volunteers to make it happen, opportunities include hosting interactive art booths, food, sound, stages, kids activities, prep, and clean up.
  • Artists are especially needed to help with demonstrations, workshops and the interactive booths.
  • If you can't get there you can still help by covering the event in prayer and by donating money or supplies. Email [email protected] for details.
