Celtic Nations Pray Through 2011Georgina Micklewright - 19 Jan 2011

During 2010 the Celtic nations were stirring. Scotland was in the midst of their Year of Prayer ‘THE BIG IF’, partnering alongside Alpha Scotland, Pray for Scotland, Care and the Evangelical Alliance.  With inspiration from 2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

The goal was a year of unbroken prayer, to raise the prayer capacity of local churches in Scotland, and to see individuals have a fresh intimacy with God. There were incredible stories and testimonies throughout the year as God moved in the nation.

Meanwhile in Wales, 24-7 team leader Lindy Morgan was being stirred by God. A nation with a rich heritage of moves of God, He was calling to bring together in prayer. Again 2 Chronicles 7:14 was the central focus – to see the IF worked out in the THEN – for a the nation to come together in unity, young and old, of every domination, like-hearted pray-ers crying out, a chain of ‘border’ prayer across the Wales/England border as well, all wrapped up in a year of unbroken prayer for Wales in 2011.

In an email to her 24-7 counterparts in Scotland and Ireland Lindy was thrilled to discover that not only had the Scotland team felt called to continue their year of prayer into 2011 – but the leaders of 24-7 Ireland had also heard God speak about establishing a year of prayer across their country in 2011. This was to be a year of prayer for each of the Celtic nations!

Once more in Ireland it was 2 Chronicles 7:14 that had spoken to them and the promise that God wanted to heal a nation. The desire is to bring together churches across all of Ireland, northern and republican, and to cry out for the nation to once again know him as Father.

We are so excited for these Celtic cousins and the promises that God has for them. If you live in either Scotland, Wales or Ireland and want to be part of their respective year’s of prayer then you can do so via the links below:
