24-7 Prayer USA: RelaunchedRachel Wegner - 16 Feb 2011
As always, much has transpired since the last update from the 24-7 Prayer USA crew. As many of you know, our Campus America initiative ended on December 31 with the culmination of our 2010 Year of Prayer among university campuses around the United States. We saw 175+ campuses pray and a stunning 26,000+ hours of prayer logged collectively among these passionate young ones. Without doubt, the seeds planted on these campuses and the movements of prayer that have consequently begun will continue for years to come. Our team had a potent time of debriefing, with Pete Greig in our midst, and a proper party at the home of the Blackwells to celebrate the end of Campus America. As we all returned from our holiday break in January, a small band of us continued on to fully re-launch 24-7 Prayer USA.
Perhaps the first mile-marker in this new chapter was the redesign of our website, since we’d been operating primarily out of the Campus America site for the last few years. With the help of some brilliant friends, we were able to get our site up and running in early February. The new site is certainly a pivotal piece as we pursue our calling anew as a national movement.
Along with keeping our main focus on prayer, mission and justice, we are also beginning to more intentionally pour into the many 24-7 communities and Boiler Rooms around the U.S. I was able to spend a bit of time just this week with Joe Steinke (who is now our fearless Communities Leader) and the Tendero’s at the Stockbridge Boiler Room in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are also pulling together a few unofficial regional gatherings of communities in the next few months, along with a national gathering that will be announced in the near future.
The 24-7 Prayer USA team is in good spirits as we lay the foundation for this new season. As always, we continue to foster our relationships with our many friends on university campuses around the States and are now extending ourselves more fully into the well-established national network of 24-7 Prayer USA. There are already so many stories to tell that will be released as we get into full swing. Keep an eye on our website, and also check out our newly launched Facebook, Twitter and Vimeo pages for our latest updates.
Here’s to a new season and a new adventure!
