Global Day of Prayer 2011Isebel Spangenberg - 6 Jun 2011

As with the previous 10 years, Pentecost 2011 will see believers from all over the world gather on 12th June for a Global Day of Prayer. This amazing move of God has swept across the earth, uniting believers from every single nation in the world to pray God’s promises into fulfillment. Yes, in every country believers from different cultures, denominations, gender and age have gathered and will gather again to seek God’s face for the healing of the nations.

Testimonies from across the globe confirm that the Global Day of Prayer has changed the way many of us think of praying together. Here are a few of those testimonies:

Thank you for the Global Day of prayer, I am missions President of my church and have been trying to find a way to introduce prayer to my church. With the global day of prayer, I was able to take each area of the world and break it up into 5 areas

The feeling we have every year can be illustrated by the attitude of this lady with her child, who came to us one day after the meeting and told us this: if the churches could be found together, without barriers of denominations, to praise God and pray together like today, it would be so fantastic, so wonderful!

Leaders who could not attend a service with a fellow minister saw the Global Day of Prayer as a means used by the Lord to unite them and it has mobilized the church and created the awareness of believers to pray for the nation of Liberia and the Universal Church.

Nothing is going to move without prayer and I believe with all my heart that after 6 years of participating in the GDOP, Hong Kong is never going to be the same again though we have to continue praying for His mercy and grace upon the nations.

During the first 10 years GDOP called the masses to gather in one place, but during this new season GDOP has become a tool to fuel a lifestyle of prayer encouraging as many people in as many places as possible to pray. We have moved from single gatherings to groups getting together in their communities, churches, houses and campuses. This is an opportunity for His army to cover the earth with a blanket of prayer! Just imagine millions, individuals or groups, hanging out in His presence from when the sun rises in the East until it sets in the West . . . !

Because of this focus to involve as many people in as many places as possible, we have seen an increase in interest to participate.

The question is: Will you be adding your prayers on 12th June 2011?

It’s SO simple . . . just get a few friends together and pray like crazy for your nation and the nations of the world . . . and know that you are part of, most probably, the biggest prayer gathering ever!

You can gather in which ever way you want, but the organisers have one request:

Please do join the rest of the world at some stage in praying a prayer called, "A Prayer For The World", during your gathering. This prayer has been translated into 63 languages and is available on the Global Day of Prayer website.

How cool is it to hear the same prayer echo all over the world! God’s promise is clear “If my people who are called by name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land”- 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Let’s call an army of young intercessors to stand in the gap for their nations! C’mon, register your participation.

Now, let me rock the boat even further . . . it doesn’t all end on 12 June! Following the example of the first believers in Acts 1 & 2 we encourage believers to take part in the 90 Days of Blessing.  Yes, this is where prayer becomes a lifestyle, where mission and justice becomes our focus and WE become the answers to our won prayers! Prayer is about intimacy and action, about connecting to the Father’s heart and then becoming the vessels through which He can pour his love, grace and mercy onto broken people and desperate situations. A very helpful Prayer Guide is available that will challenge you to continue your prayer efforts, but also to become physically involved in the situations that you normally pray for.

Let’s gear up our communities and pack out our Prayer Rooms and join the world in prayer on 12 June and beyond. It’s time to pray Isaiah 58-prayers! It’s time to see the fulfillment of Hab. 2:14:   “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”
