 Hands link across borders

The Border Prayer Room Project in Wales led to 28 prayer spaces on both sides of the English and Welsh borders praying a 24-7 relay over two weeks in May. The prayer baton was passed from North to South, and Lindy Morgan representing 24-7 Prayer in Wales, visited every prayer room in a campervan.

A good friend of mine, Yvonne Mason, saw a vision of a map of the Welsh and English borders joined together by stitches, hearing some words; ‘hands across the border.’ It was out of this dream of blessing England and Wales through prayer that the Welsh Border Prayer Room Project was born and I got involved to champion it.

England and Wales are divided throughout history by war and oppression. To have the opportunity to encourage people who live on the borders to come together in prayer was truly wonderful.

Each prayer room set up was twinned with another across the border, and each one took a 24-1 in turn. There were a few locations where 24-7 Prayer Rooms had functioned in the past and were very practiced at setting up creative spaces for people to freely engage with God. A prayer team decided to walk along the ancient border of Offa’s Dyke while the project was in full swing. The walkers covered approximately 176 miles starting at Prestatyn in the North, and ending at Chepstow in the South, visiting as many prayer rooms as possible along the way. Also following the route was a team who led young people’s prayer sessions in each location.  It was thrilling to hear teenagers engaging with prayer across what once was described as a divide.

I had the joy of visiting and supporting every prayer room, travelling 900 miles to criss-cross the border and hearing some great stories of people connecting more deeply with God in prayer while thanking God that his word always accomplishes what it was set to do. The prayer continues now the project is over, and we hope to hear of even more ways to implement and mobilise 24-7 Prayer all across Wales.

Lindy Morgan

Lindy Morgan champions prayer for 24-7 in Wales. She is passionate to see and release all ages to pray according to who they are in Christ Jesus. With a background in fashion design,  accountancy and youth work (admittedly a strange combination!) her  passion for the King and His Kingdom far outweighs her peculiarity, or maybe it explains it! Wife and mother of two beautiful daughters she loves to pray, paint and worship. Nicknamed 'Firestarter' she lives up to her name as a spiritual arsonist.
