What is 24-7 Prayer? - Win Tickets to a 24-7 GatheringScot Bower - 18 Jul 2011

How would you explain 24-7 Prayer without using words?

What's the vision, what's the big idea?

These are the opening lines of a prophetic poem called The Vision that was scrawled on a Prayer Room wall.

The vision is JESUS - obsessively, dangerously, undeniably Jesus. The vision is an army of young people...

These words help to paint a picture and start to explain something of 24-7 Prayer. 24-7 Prayer is many things to many people and I'm sure we've all explained this movement in different ways.

24-7 is Prayer that starts in a prayer room and spills into the streets... 24-7 is Mission  flowing from prayer that sees communities planted and a generation challenged to go to the most unlikely places.

24-7 is Justice that joins with the heart of God championing the poor and the marginalised, speaking truth to a broken world around and crying out for His kingdom to come on earth.

24-7 is fairylights, cargo nets and post it notes. 24-7 is red bull and pot noodle, it's setting your alarm for 3am and driving across town whilst everyone else sleeps. 24-7 is loving Jesus and joining with Him in loving people...

All these words help but what if you couldn't use words? If you didn't share a common language? As 24-7 increasingly crosses cultural and lingual barriers it's becoming apparent that so many of our resources rely on words and a shared language. Our fantastic short films are in English (some have been subtitled into other languages) our books, posters and leaflets again are mostly in English.

How would you explain 24-7 Prayer without using words? Seriously: How would you explain 24-7 Prayer without using words? Can you help 24-7 break down linguistic barriers and cross borders? Can you create a short film, animation, cartoon strip that might help the movement?

24-7 Prayer are launching a summer competition to find a 'Without Words' resource. All details are on the 'Without Words' page but entries need to be in by 31st August which gives you a little 7 weeks to get creative.
