24-7 Prayer USA: Comings, Goings and GatheringsRachel Wegner - 29 Jul 2011

Hello there, global 24-7 family!

It’s been a bit of a stretch since I’ve last written here. Last time I wrote, we’d just finished up our 24-7 Prayer USA National Gathering, which was graciously hosted by our friends at Believers Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma from May 26-28. In case you missed the recap of the gathering, be sure to check it out. We also posted a photo album to our Facebook page that gives a little glimpse into our time together.

It’s been a bit quieter on the home front here in Kansas City, Missouri with most of our small national team out traveling. The Kansas City Boiler Room warmly welcomed our national communities leader Joe Steinke and his family as they made the move from Madison, Wisconsin to join us here in Kansas City. They’ve settled nicely into in the quaint Brookside neighborhood of the city and fondly dubbed their home the “Brookside Bungalow.” (We have a habit of naming our houses around here…)

Our campus coordinator Katie Cornick is currently abroad in Southeast Asia with a small team comprised of others from the 24-7 Prayer USA family. They have also had the joy of receiving a few short-term teams during their time in Asia this summer. Stay tuned for more of their story in the next month or two.

Dana Hernandez, our national prayer leader, and a few friends from the KC Boiler Room have joined our friends Dave and Tara Powers for a one-day worship and music festival known as Heaven Fest. Heaven Fest is set in the stunning front range of the Rocky Mountains in Loveland, Colorado and is happening on July 30. The Heaven Fest team also hosted a week of 24-7 prayer leading up to the festival, which Dana and the KCBR crew joined. We also recently received word about a solemn assembly of prayer and fasting initiated by Texas Governor Rick Perry. Despite backlash from a political group, the assembly will be held at a large stadium in Houston, Texas on August 6. Governor Perry says it is a call to prayer and fasting for the U.S. as it faces a time of financial, political, moral and spiritual crisis. Read more about our heart behind joining Heaven Fest and the solemn assembly in one of our recent stories.

At this rate, we’ll come back together as a team this fall with plenty of stories to share from a summer of travel, missions and gatherings…but that’s all for now, friends. See you next time around!
