Canada: God gets our attention! - 6 Jan 2005
"Last month a dozen or so 24-7 Canada types gathered in Langley, British Columbia, to share stories, hear stories, pray, and - well, let's be honest here: eat and laugh together!
Coffee and dreams brewing....
Here's a rundown of the first ever 24-7Prayer Gathering: West Coast Edition. Oh, and if it sounds like fun, maybe you'll want to join a hundred or so others in Calgary this spring for the first ever 24-7Canada National Gathering (with friends like Pete Greig, Venere, and some other crazy people). For the first time we met up on the West Coast to chat, hang out, and dream together. As the 20 or so of us began to gather there was this vibrant anticipation and excitement of what was going to happen … the potential friendships that would develop … what God was going to do … and what our dreams might look like at the end of it all. |

As we got to know each other, where we’d come from, our story in this 24-7 journey so far, and what food we enjoyed, we began to mesh into this community of people who were prepared for whatever it was that God had in store, particularly with this prayer movement. Dave, Oria and Dan Some of us were new to it and some had been on the journey for a few years, but everyone had a story to tell of how they had been infected with this "prayer virus" which is spreading around the world.Hotlines to the holy one
That first evening Venere (basically hot-lines to the holy one and extremely anointed in ushering people to the feet of the father) led us in worship.Later, sitting in a very cold warehouse where a church called "Friends: Langley Vineyard" meets, we prayed (we felt that prayer was apt considering the theme of the gathering!) It felt like we were full with everything the Lord could and would tell us and we needed to just be in his presence togetherLeopards and lessons...
The next morning - one coffee and an experience with an Asian leopard (?!?) later - we were back together and worshiping once more. The day was packed full of prayer, vision, history lessons, Zinzendorf, values, and more story-telling! Then it was off to eat, drink and dream together. What would this movement look like in the West Coast? In Canada? And what part would we play (if any) in all of this? All we knew was God had something up his sleeve and he had our attention.
