Urgent Prayer for Pastor Facing Execution in IranRebecca Dunning - 29 Sep 2011
The crime Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani faces in Iran TODAY is adopting the Christian faith. Three times this week he has been asked to renounce his faith. Though Iran’s constitution allows Christianity as a minority faith, the courts are giving him until today to turn from it. He then will face execution at any time.
What you can do:
Pray:
Father, we ask that you would intervene for the life of Pastor and his family. Like you saved Daniel from the Lion’s Den (Daniel 6) and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (Daniel 3) from the fiery furnace for their faith amongst a government that disallows it, we ask that you would save this man. Father, we seek a miracle today and that you would strengthen, encourage and provide for Pastor Nadarkhani and his family. We ask for the nation of Iran to come to know the mercy of your son Jesus.
Write to the Iranian Ambassador:
Christian Solidarity Worldwide have made it really easy for us all to contact the Iranian Embassy (Please follow the instructions on their website!) and send an email.
Further prayer points to remember throughout the day:
- For God to move mightily to overturn the decision to execute Pastor Nadarkhani.
- For God to stay the hand of the Iranian authorities, that they would reconsider the death sentence handed down.
- For the Iranian authorities to show mercy to Pastor Nadarkhani.
- That God would uphold Pastor Nadarkhani with His righteous right hand.
- For peace, strength and comfort for Pastor Nadarkhani’s family.
- For wisdom for Pastor Nadarkhani’s lawyer who is also facing legal difficulties.
- That God would comfort members of Pastor Nadarkhani’s church and denomination.
- That Iranian Christians would not be bound by fear and would keep their eyes fixed firmly on God.
