Welcome to 24-7 Partners NewsEtienne Piek - 6 Oct 2011

Welcome to the first edition of our new monthly 24-7 Partners Newsletter! This special resource will be sent to those who chose to become a 24-7 Partner by giving monthly to help build sustainability in the movement. Not only will this give you the opportunity to keep your finger on the 24-7 pulse, but you will share in certain privileges as you commit to partner with us financially. We trust that this resource will be as big a blessing to you as you are to us!

Just recently, on the eve of the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, we ran a feature on what has changed since that awful day. The article collected reflections from a number of 24-7 friends across the world.  The common theme running through all the responses was clear:  The world has undoubtedly changed and would never be the same following the events of 9/11.

One of the biggest issues of this time is the global economic crisis. The balance of power is shifting, as the rich world faces mounting debt and massive unemployment.  The USA is a country in crisis and the Euro Zone is near to collapse. Whilst the advanced economies struggle, the developing economies in regions such as Asia and Africa continue to experience strong growth.

From the Arab Springs to riots across Europe, people are gathering and change for better or for worse, is inevitable.

The earth itself is crying out as we experience an unprecedented season of natural disasters globally.  Millions are being left homeless because of earthquakes, tsunamis and drought.

Amongst all of these challenges there is an unprecedented growth in people connected globally in prayer. It’s a time of great change, but also a time of amazing opportunities as the Body of Christ rise up and share the message of hope and of a God who is present in the chaos of the nations. It is in times like these that we hear the echo of Ps. 46:

10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
   I will be exalted among the nations,
   I will be exalted in the earth.”

 11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
   the God of Jacob is our fortress.
