24-7 Prayer USA: A Long Overdue UpdateRachel Wegner - 27 Oct 2011
Hello there, 24-7 global family!
I just realized it was summertime last I wrote here, so it’s about time for an update on the recent happenings of 24-7 Prayer USA. The leaves are turning here in Kansas City and plenty of good things are astir around the US.
In September, I paid a visit to my dear friends at the Tulsa Boiler Room in Oklahoma and found them ever-growing and digging deeper into community life. They have grown to a size where they decided to divide into two smaller house churches, fondly dubbed “spuds,” that meet on a weekly basis. They are just now rounding off a week of prayer focused on praying for one another as a family. Stay tuned for a fuller story on the Tulsa Boiler Room soon on our website.
Here at the Kansas City Boiler Room, we are about to launch a week of prayer focused on (you guessed it) family. We’re all sharing photos of ourselves to post in our prayer room, along with writing a few lines about what we want God to show us about family, whether we’re single, in relationships, married or have children of our own. We did a week of prayer like this last year and it was a powerful time, to say the least. We’re excited to see what God does this time around.
On the other side of the world, our dear friend and teammate Katie Cornick is currently working with an organization called CRASH Japan in Tokyo. She’s been blogging regularly about her time spent working, praying and reaching out to the Japanese people. She was even able to recently visit the region devastated by the tsunami and earthquake earlier this year. She’s been in Japan since early September and will remain there until December, so be sure to keep up with her adventures from the field there.
As always, there are stories to be read via our Stories feed. We’ve recently featured a piece on a few statewide movements of prayer cropping up around the nation. We also ran a story on friends of ours who pursue social justice awareness in some unusual ways. We also had a piece about believers who are embracing the urban core of Kansas City and who invited others into their story this summer for an internship.
Well, folks…that’s the gist of it. I hope you enjoyed reading!
Abundant joy,
Rachel
