Counting Down to Kingdom Come 2012Theresa Stone - 1 Nov 2011

With less than sixty days left until New Year’s Eve, 24-7 Prayer and Alpha in the UK are in partnership counting down to the launch of a joint year of prayer across the UK and Ireland called Kingdom Come 2012!

Pete Greig, Paul Davie (Alpha Scotland) and Dave Dickinson (Alpha Ireland) share the KC 2012 vision:

Over the last two years, we’ve seen a rapid growth in the number of prayer rooms across the United Kingdom and Ireland, partly triggered by the Alpha & 24-7 Prayer years of prayer in Scotland (‘The Big If?’ 2010) in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland (‘What If?’ 2011). So, during the Olympic and Paralympic year, from 1st January 2012 until 31st December 2012, individuals, churches and even cities will unite to pray like never before, resourced by cool prayer tools encouraging them to do 24-7 Prayer Rooms, Prayer Walking, Praying for the Nations, Prayer Meetings, Prayer Staking, and Pray the Lord’s Prayer as Jesus taught us.

Have a look at the newly launched KC website and follow the links to resources in the KC:Toolbox.

“This, then, is how you should pray, Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…”

We believe that God wants the Church to ‘rediscover God’s compassion for the world’, and to ‘receive again God’s call to go into all the world’. The year is about extending the welcome of God to the world as they come to the UK and Ireland, as well as to the world who are already in our streets and communities.

Anyone can join in with KC:UK/ KC:IRL through registering a 24-7 Prayer Room or prayer group and tweeting about answered prayer using #KingdomCome2012, @KingdomCome2012, and the Facebook page.

Let’s see how the Father responds to hundreds, probably thousands, of prayer rooms of every denomination, in schools, colleges and universities all over the UK and Ireland, praying for days, weekends, whole weeks or more. Prayer, in all kinds of places that spills out into mission and justice.

It doesn’t all end after 2012 however, because this year of prayer is going global! If your nation wants to get involved then you are going to have the chance of carrying the prayer baton with others worldwide in 2013.
