ON THE BOIL: Boiler Room Gets New Building at last - 14 Jan 2005

After 5 months of negotiations over the contract, the pioneering team at the Reading Boiler Room , the first ever Boiler, can finally move into their new premises! "Abbot" Andy Freeman and the team have searched for a new location since November 2003 when their previous premises, a derelict English pub, was demolished.

Andy (see pic) discovered  the new location, Gosbrook House, last September after trawling property websites for a week solid.  The new building is about 5000 square feet, with a warehouse, accommodation space for pilgrims and a lovely mezzanine lounge-type area.

Pete Ward (left),  24-7's General Manager and a key part of the Reading Boiler community says: "I’m really looking forward to being able to live out our six Boiler Room values (Prayer, Creativity, Mission, Justice, Community, Pilgrimage) with the focus of a permanent place of prayer at its centre."

Can You Help?
The team still need some help with getting the place ship-shape - so if you live in the UK anywhere near Reading... this is where YOU come in. Andy says: "Provisionally we're arranging some clean up and then painting days, if you wanna come along and help and see the building at the same time - you'd be really welcome - you dont have to stay all the time - whatever you can give would be a huge blessing.
  • Wednesday 19 January and Thurs 20 January - cleaning and clear out days 12.30-4.00 each day
  • Sat 22 January - painting day 10am - 4pm.
