Story from a Prayer Room in FinlandElla Auren - 10 Nov 2011
This weekend, we helped a local Lutheran church to host their very first 24-1 Prayer Room. During the 24hrs, the church worshiped and prayed in ways most of them had never before done. To many the whole idea of creative prayer was completely new. We counted that at least 120 people attended! The vicar liked the prayer room so much that he asked if it could be open for Sunday services so more people were able to visit. I loved the feedback we got from those who prayed:
We were praying in small groups and had just prayed that God would become known to the nations that live in our area (this suburb has a large number of immigrants) and that they would come to know Him as their Father. Literally a minute after we finished that prayer, three chinese students walked in the door not knowing what they had stepped into. We took them around the prayer room and were able to pray with them.
In the middle of the night, one lady had woken up and felt she needed to pray. She felt that God was speaking to her from a passage from Luke 14, the parable of the great banquet, and she certainly didn't want to be one with excuses but to be in the banquet, so she came running to the prayer room.
For night slot you had to book in advance. When the doors opened again for all in the morning, there was a queue behind the doors.
