Pray HIV week 4: LearnAndy Freeman - 24 Nov 2011

No man ever prayed heartily without learning something."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Here at 24-7 we’ve been spending the month of November praying about HIV/AIDS.  If you’ve been joining us in this journey you will have tied a ribbon round your arm, written HIV on your knuckes, and been the person standing outside every pharmacy you’ve found praying about HIV.

This week we have a challenge for you.  To learn.

I wonder what you do in your spare time.  Maybe you watch television.  Maybe you’re outside with your friends playing football.  Maybe your life is busy and all you want to do is take a little rest.

This week, would you give a little of your spare time away.  Each day would you be willing to give 15 minutes of your time to find out something more about HIV/AIDS.  If you can assess them, maybe you could use the internet or find a book in your school or library.  Maybe you can get hold of a newspaper and read something about the virus.  Maybe you could get down to your local clinic or hospital and ask someone.  Maybe there’s someone you know who has the virus.

As we pray, we learn that God is just as keen to change us as He is to change the situation we’re praying about.  Let me do that this week.

If you haven't done so already you can download a free HIV prayer guide to help you pray in the run up to World Aids Day on the 1st December.
