Ministry of Hope for Japan - 13 Dec 2011
On March 11 2010 the world held its breath as an earthquake hit off the coast of Japan, sending a tsunami that would devastate the country. Thousands lost their lives and tens of thousands were left homeless. The nightmare continued with news of a nuclear meltdown. Japan was hurting physically; emotionally and spiritually. It was a country in crisis.
Since then Christian organisations have risen up to bring the gospel to the great nation of Japan. Here at 24-7 we heard of the terrible news during an international team meeting and felt compelled by the Holy Spirit to commission Jon Petersen to be sent. Jon grew up in Japan and carried the burden to bring the good news of the gospel back to his nation in its time of need. Since that day he has returned many times, with teams from all over the world, helping the relief agency CRASH by bring practical help and prayer. The team has since connected with the local church and managed to establish a prayer room in Yokohama which has been able to soak the country in power of prayer - see the full story here.
Now Jesus.net has launched a new internet ministry effort, Hope for Living, in Japan to help bring a message of hope to those who are still hurting in the wake of the March 11 disaster. The vision? To provide northern Japan with a resource to discover God through internet evangelism, an e-counselling service and as a tool to link those who are interested in Japan with other believers in their local area. They will be working closely with CRASH Japan and Campus Crusade for Christ to help accomplish this.
Jesus.net is a global alliance of internet ministries that operate Christian evangelistic websites in more than 20 languages worldwide. To learn more about all that Jesus.net does, take a look at their website.
