France: prayer's shaking the foundations - 19 Jan 2005
You may have seen a tiny French flag on the front of our whizzy new look website - it provides a link to the newest 24-7prayer website for France and the French speaking nations.
This website was put together by our friend in France David Pierron (see pic right). 24-7's key organiser for prayer rooms in France, David was commissioned at last year's 24-7 International Leaders Gathering in Barcelona, Spain. |

We got to know this quietly spoken Frenchman after he emailed us a couple of years ago telling us of his enthusiasm for 24-7 prayer. The email also contained a link for a 24-7 France website which he had already designed!! So we decided we just had to meet him!
Keep an eye out for David's profile in future as part of the Meet 24-7 series - he would love your prayers as he seeks to spread the word about 24-7 and build a team - according to Operation World, Christians in France face many challenges (see below).
David has a number of prayer requests featured on the special Supporters Section of this site and about how prayer could be "rocking the foundations" in this key European nation.

France is at a spiritual crossroads; 20% of the population are ‘non-religious’, church attendance is plummeting and Christianity is seen as irrelevant and out of date in this secularised society. Pray for a dramatic spiritual change over France.
Occult practices are widespread across France. 50,000 full-time occultic practitioners out number Christian workers by a long way. The spiritual impact on every level of society is obviously huge. Pray that the presence of Jesus would be stronger in even the darkest places.
France used to be known as the ‘graveyard of missionaries’. The drop-rate for missionaries continues to be high and many are discouraged. Pray that the Holy Spirit would refresh and encourage all those who have come to France to serve Him.
