Canada: new Boiler Room Launches today - 30 Jan 2005

Paul getting prayed for
I am a little overwhelmed today as I consider what in the world have I gotten myself into, confesses the abbot of the newest 24-7 Boiler Room, Paul Wegenast (left) of Calgary Canada. The whole concept of urban monastery and commitment to a 24-7-365 boiler room of prayer is a little radical and crazy... why am I doing this?

Some days I feel it would be easier to get back to one of my old jobs where I could leave after work and not be constantly consumed with the details. But God has affirmed this mission he has called myself and my family to pioneer: a community and place of solitiude and contemplation... of justice and creativity. His heart wants to break out and touch the spiritual hunger that is burning across the face of this earth.

The urban monastery/24-7 boiler room is but one container that the Spirit of Jesus is calling out across the earth. Thank you Father, for you are faithful. You are stirring things up as you call your children to stop and sit in your lap, to hear your voice, to call out your heart, and to be your hands and feet. I ask for grace and protection as we walk out this journey of establishing a community that prays and a place to gather for creative and expressive prayer. I am excited as we humbly begin the urban monastery here in Calgary. The story that will be written will be authored by Jesus as we wait on him and patiently walk out this journey of obedience... I think I feel ready to jump in with both feet now. Fire it UP!
