Japan: Pray, Give, GoWendy Porterfield - 16 Mar 2012
This week we have devoted the website to commemorating the anniversary of the disaster that hit Japan and sharing some of the amazing things that God is doing as the country is in the process of rebuilding. If you have felt inspired by the stories we would like to conclude our 'Embrace Japan week' by inviting you to get involved. Here are a few ways that you can do that right now!
1. PRAY for Japan.
- Pray for the continued relief efforts - by Japanese and internationals, that the Japanese would grow in deeper love for their own people and that they would receive the nations who come to be a blessing. (Ephesians 4:15-16)
- Pray for those struggling with depression and hopelessness, that God would bring revelation of their purpose, value and true Hope for living. Pray that family, friends and strangers would be drawn to connect with and encourage these ones. (Lamentations 3:21-22)
- Pray for the economy and for business in Japan - that Christians would continue to operate with integrity, and that God would bless their uprightness and strengthen their hearts in doing good. Pray also for creative ideas for new business and income generation for Japanese who are struggling financially. (Romans 11:35-36)
- Pray for the family unit - that husbands and wives would be moved to honor and prefer one another, that children would be raised in the care of a loving home, and that God would restore a desire for marriage and all forms of healthy human relationship, especially in the younger generation. (1 John 4:7)
- Pray for leaders in the older generation in every sphere of life in Japan - that they would raise up young leaders to carry on their legacy and to walk in their gifts and calling. (1 Corinthians 4:14-16)
- Pray that technology would be an agent of God to connect hungry hearts to those who are filled with Living Water. Pray also that Japanese who are seeking Jesus would be connected with the family of God and brought from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Light. (Psalm 72:19)
- Pray for Japan, that all the enemy intends for evil will be transformed into life and beauty by our God. Pray also that the global Church would continue to engage this kairos "now is the time" opportunity for the nation of Japan. (Isaiah 62:3-5)

GO short-term.
Usuiso is a tiny town once 6-700 people, nestled on the coast among low lying hills and ancient traditions. On March 11th, 2011, the tsunami took 150 inhabitants, left virtually no homes, displaced its people and left them clothed in sorrow and without hope for their future. Just west of the village lies the city of Iwaki and a family of believers called Global Mission Center. They have a dream to rebuild this tiny town and restore hope through transforming village and the hearts of the people.
We with 24-7 Prayer are feeling a leading from the Lord to cycle prayer teams into Iwaki and Usuiso like a spiritual Air Force, providing cover and dropping blessings of hope in the hearts of the people. We would also like to bring small teams of “marketplace ministers” to pray and discuss how to fund the project, rebuild homes and restore businesses.
We’d love for some of you to come with us on these prayer journeys and “business leaders” trips to pray and build for the transformation of Usuiso. We will also pray in Iwaki, for the work of the Global Mission Center and for the unity of the church in the city.
• Length of Short-term teams: 8-12 days
• Summer Dates available for teams: June 1st-August 18th (please inquire about possible Fall dates if you’re interested in coming then)
• Cost of a 10-day trip (per person): ~$1,700-2,450USD
For further information or to request to send a team, contact Katie Cornick.
