Lent: Amazing Grace Tash Creaney - 15 Mar 2012
Tash Creaney has been hosting this week's 24-7 Spaces. Tash lives in Belfast where she works with 24-7 Prayer Ireland (as you can probably tell from the accent) supporting Prayer Rooms as well as working with Emmanuel Church in Lurgan, Northern Ireland.
What does lent mean to you?
When I think of lent the line from the classic and beautiful hymn ‘Amazing Grace’ comes to mind “How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed” lent allows me to make space, refocus and take the journey to the cross again with fresh expectation. I never want familiarity to over shadow and diminish all that Jesus did for me on the cross, I want each encounter to be as life changing as the first encounter.
What are you giving up/taking up for lent?
I am joining in with my church in an initiative we are calling 1.1.1, and so we are giving up one thing, for me that was coffee, and then we are daily setting our alarms and praying at 1pm. We are also choosing one person and specifically praying for them each day over lent. It has been great a rhythm to follow and to do it as a church family has given us a great sense of unity.
What your prayer is for lent?
My prayer for lent is simple; God help me to share the ‘GOOD news’ of the gospel, of Your love, grace and mercy in all that I do.
