Free Resource: Song of Prayer - 21 Mar 2012
Musician Chad Lawson contacted 24-7 Prayer recently to generously offer his latest composition "Song of Prayer" as a free download.
Walls scribbled with prayers, sculptures, writing in sand and childlike finger paints are just a selection of the many languages that people find to talk with God in Prayer Rooms around the world. But one method that is found almost everywhere is music, music connects us to heaven in a profound way. Whether we look in Revelation and see the living creatures eternally crying out praise to God or to Job (38:7) describing the stars singing during creation, or simply at the bond David cultivated with God through worship, it seems clear that God has a fondness for music.
Chad Lawson plays piano at a large church where part of the meeting is set-aside for quiet prayer before the Lord. In these times Chad is encouraged to play spontaneous God-inspired worship. During a powerful encounter with God Chad realised that he was being called to record some spontaneous music to companion people in prayer.
Having had the privilege of being able to listen to the result, “Song of Prayer”, is breathtaking. The 32 minute piece of music takes you on a journey that leads you through His courts and into an encounter with Him. Alfred Sergel, member of the Chad Lawson Trio and lead drummer for well known Christian musician Jason Upton, wrote the liner notes for this piece of music and had this to say:
Chad Lawson is a pianist, but more than that, Chad Lawson is a storyteller. Using the piano as a journaling pad, he tells a story with melody. In his newest release 'Music for Prayer', Chad fuses his originality with references to Bach and modern hymns in the midst of complete spontaneity. His melodies take you on a journey. Beckoning your imagination to engage with all of your life. A journey that is not for the faint of heart. His melodies, like his life - and my life and yours - are a prayer. Reminding you that your life matters. Because the truth is: your life matters. "Music for Prayer". Indeed.
Despite its success in the iTunes and Amazon chart, Chad feels a desire to give this as a gift to everyone with a passion for prayer. So he contacted us to give us permission to give this wonderful gift to the 24-7 Community. Below is a link to download the file, we encourage you to find a quiet place and see where God takes you …….
