Thousands Gather to Pray in Worlds Largest Muslim Nation - 15 May 2012
This week I’ve travelled nearly 7,000 miles to spend five days praying my heart out with 9,000 sweaty, but passionate, pray-ers from around the world.
Sheena Littlehale is passionate American pray-er and part of the international prayer team for 24-7 Prayer helping to connect and resource prayer all over the world. Along with others from the movement Sheena is in Jakarta this week for the World Prayer Asembly. Sheena will be keeping us involved and informed this week with a series of live blogs.
But what do meals under tents, a group of women singing around a harp, and a prayer room on the 12th floor of an office building all have in common?

They are all part of the holy chaos going on around me this afternoon at the Sentul International Convention Center on the outskirts of Jakarta. I’m here for the World Prayer Assembly (WPA), which today registered thousands of arriving delegates and prepared for tonight’s start. All afternoon I watched waves of groups arriving of all different cultures and nationalities, from more than 80 countries! All were excited and eager to be a part of what God has in mind for this week! The organizers described it like this:
The World Prayer Assembly 2012 will be a “new wave” to strategically connect and empower the global prayer and mission movements. 5000-6000 Christian leaders from up to 220 nations will join with the Lord and each other through united prayer, leading to Spirit-inspired action to transform our world.
Tonight we prayed together, worshipped together and heard amazing stories about the impact and blessing that the 1984 International Prayer Assembly had on its host country, South Korea. But I’ll tell you more about it later! I am so looking forward to the many prayers, conversations, connections and stories I’ll be a part of and that I will be sharing throughout this week.
