Shaping history as the world unites in prayer - 15 May 2012

This week will go down in history as  one of the largest gatherings of prayer the world has ever seen. Thousands of Christians are flocking towards Jakarta, Indonesia (the worlds largest Muslim nation) for the World Prayer Assembly. Co-hosted by two of the most powerful prayer forces in the world, Indonesia and Korea, the WPA is calling out for a "new wave" to unite and accelerate an ongoing, interactive global prayer movement towards the fulfilment of Habakkuk 2:14 that "the Earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord".

This Thursday (May 17th) 100,000 believers from all dominations and more than 200 nations, including 40,000 children and youth, will gather together in the National Stadium of Jakarta to cry out prayers before the Lord, and with Global Day of Prayer broadcasting the event to millions around the world (watch live streaming on the WPA website), the stage is set for the body of the Church to rise up in prayer and shape the history of our world.

Wherever you find yourself this week, we encourage you to join in with this global explosion of prayer. Please also pray for the 24-7 team who are heading out to Jakarta with Pete Greig, founding champion of 24-7 Prayer, as he prepares to speak at the event.
