Malaysia Prays "Let Justice Prevail"Wendy Porterfield - 2 Aug 2012

When our 24-7 Champion in Malaysia shared that she wanted to catalyze a national Year of Prayer throughout the Malaysian Church 2012, we were 100% behind her – but we had no idea what great momentum would emerge!
This is Malaysia’s 50th anniversary as a nation, and her Church is facing increasing persecution and difficulty. This Year of Prayer (YOP), themed “Let Justice Prevail”, was launched on January 1st. There was immediately such demand for 24-7 prayer that with little effort, 70,000 booklets in three different languages were printed and distributed throughout the country! Church communities from across the spectrum are now more than halfway through this year of raising their voices together to the One who hears and responds.
Here is an update from the Year of Prayer catalyst and organizer on the ground in Malaysia:
This is one huge adventure for the team and myself. Over the past 6 months, every member of the team can truly say that our personal walks with God will never be the same again. The best part is seeing beyond Malaysia - although we are quite caught up with the 2012 YOP and already starting to prep the 2013 YOP, He is definitely opening our eyes to what He is doing in Malaysia in the context of what He is doing in the region and the nations.
“The biggest answered prayer is seeing the churches and umbrella prayer bodies coming together in unity in prayer! Evangelicals and mainline ecumenicals have come together to plan united prayer efforts for the year of Jubilee celebration and the General Elections.
“The political and social climate remains challenging - but I can see God’s hand ensuring that no injustice in the system stays hidden.
“Many pastors, intercessors, ordinary people and bible college students have visited our "Boiler Room" and the exciting part is people asking us for advice on designing their prayer rooms! This is just so crazy! …"24-7" is the BIGGEST buzzword in the (national) prayer community right now ...everyone is just going on and on talking about opening their prayer rooms 24-7. Mind boggling! It's almost like pastors may ‘lose face' if they didn't have one!
“We also had our team's first silent prayer retreat for 4 days and ended on Sunday. Certainly God is going to raise an army out of here to disciple the nations…”
Perhaps the vision that Pete Greig had on Cape St. Vincent back in the ‘90s really is coming true before our eyes. He wrote of that marking evening, “Visualizing nation after nation, I raised my hands and began to pray out loud for each one by name…My eyes were open, but I could ‘see’ with absolute clarity before me the different countries laid out like an atlas. From each one a faceless army of young people rose from the page, crowds of them in every nation awaiting orders.” (Red Moon Rising, page 3)
May it be so in Malaysia! Your Kingdom come there, and Your will be done in that land!
