Take a Day to Pray for the BalkansScot Bower - 22 Aug 2012
On the 2nd September join with 100's of others around the world to pray for God to break through in South-Eastern Europe.
The Balkans are a beautiful and diverse region of Europe that roll down from the plains of Hungary stretching all the way to the Aegean sea in the south and the Adriatic off the coast of Albania and Croatia in the west, and the Black Sea in the East. For centuries this has been a region fought over by successive empires and even today there's much distrust between neighbouring countries. It's heavily Orthodox in the South and Catholic in the North and Europe's 2 majority Muslim countries in the West. In short it's the perfect place for the gospel to flourish and the Kingdom of God to break in!
The Balkan Network are a loose affiliation of friends and churches across the region and around the world that are facilitating a day of prayer for the Balkans. Here's why:
"Over the last 18 months we have been receiving reports from men and women of prayer that they believe that God will bring transformation to the Balkan region. We believe that God is going to “move” and that this “movement” has already begun.
Exactly what that will look like we´re not sure of, but we believe it´s about bringing transformation and changing the hearts of people, releasing a fresh passion amongst believers and bringing light into dark places." (extract from balkannetwork.org)
It's simple to sign up, you can pray in your home or with your church and yet connect with others around the world online. Visit the Balkans Network website or Facebook page for more details.
