Prayer alert: Hurricane Sandy and HaitiThe Phantom Intercessor - 26 Oct 2012

Today, 26 October, has been declared a public holiday in Haiti due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy, which has caused widespread damage across the Caribbean.

A red alert is in force across Haiti. To date, almost 11,000 people have been evacuated to 65 emergency shelters.

Although Haiti was not directly in Hurricane Sandy’s path, its rain-laden outer bans have triggered extensive flooding of farmland and many homes with rivers rising across the country.

  • Please pray for families whose crops, livelihoods and homes have been damaged and that vulnerable communities still recovering from the 2010 earthquake will be given determination to carry on.
  • Pray for wisdom and discernment for the local authorities and our partners as they respond to the situation.
  • Continue to pray for ongoing work of disaster risk reduction to help protect vulnerable communities across this region especially during the hurricane season.
