UK: pioneer Reading Boiler Room now re-opened! - 30 Mar 2005

18 months since the previous building was demolished, our first ever Boiler Room in Reading reopened on Easter weekend in revamped  premises at the new Caversham site. Andy Freeman , who leads the Reading Boiler team and Boiler Rooms internationally, reports:

"Well after an immense amount of work (my team have been amazing) we opened Reading Boiler Room Mark 2 on Saturday night.  There are some excellent pictures that my son David took which are now up in the Reading photo albums.  Have a look.

What can I tell you about the launch and the opening?
  • We opened with paint still wet on the walls but with the place looking amazing.
  • Loads of people came to our launch event, we felt so supported, not the least by the 2000 pounds given to us.
  • Pete Ward (24-7's Operations Manager and member of the Boiler Room team) led the evening, Lorraine Joslin spoke amazingly, Sounds of Salvation led the worship - a ska band - so incredibly good.  There was such a sense of God as we prayed.
  • We had so many messages of support.
  • We all got very tired - I had a 24 hour migraine the following day.

We're now into our first prayer week and it feels so good.  There is a lovely sense of God in the place and the rota is filling up nicely. It's good to be open again."

The new premises also includes 3 prayer spaces - a prayer room focusing on the city of Reading, a global prayer room and a prayer room called the Sanctuary (focusing on personal intimacy with God.) The team are still working hard on the rest of the building (once an electrical wholesalers) including the pilgrim accommodation. They would love the help of a plumber to deal with the toilets - if you are a plumber and can help, please email: [email protected]
