2013: New Year CelebrationTheresa Stone - 1 Jan 2013

Unprecedented numbers of people gathered at a large London church on New Years Eve to celebrate 650 prayer rooms and 25 national prayer and worship events taking place all over Great Britain in 2012.

Lives were changed and people were healed during the 'Kingdom Come 2012' Year of Prayer.

Pete Greig and Tim Hughes hosted the evening's celebration explaining how Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) Church have seen the largest numbers of people attending an Alpha Course in 2012. The church has held regular prayer and worship gatherings attended by hundreds, which will continue into 2013 along with organic 'Kingdom Come' prayer gatherings nationally.

Pete Greig shared with the church that Cranmer Hall released a report in 2012 identifying new growth in the church in London again. All of this God activity has culminated in a permanent HTB prayer room being prepared for night and day prayer in 2013 in Kensington.

During the New Years Eve celebration, prayers were said for the US, China, India, Afghanistan and the church in Baghdad. Young people were given space to acknowledge God's call on them to preach, through standing in the empty church pulpit.

Testimonies of God's goodness were shared. One lady described how she spent the year working in China, but became ill with kidney failure. She knew she was dying, but God began to heal her nose bleed, lungs and heart. Her colleagues all came to faith as a result of her healing.

The HTB 24-7 prayer room will be hosted by a community called 'Furnace,' led by HTB Curate, Bill Cahusac, who was crowd surfed out of the church at midnight to help begin the continual prayer.

The first prayer slot was taken by a former Hindu priest who converted to Christianity in 2012 through the Alpha Course.

"These dry bones will live again, we're nothing without you."

An official HTB prayer room commissioning will take place in January 2013 with the Bishop of London, Right Rev Richard Chartres and HTB Vicar, Nicky Gumbel. Maybe we'll see you there!

Commissioning: 7-8:30am on 8th Jan at HTB, SW7 1JA. RSVP [email protected]
