Mission Team Locations: Where will you go?Ian Nicholson - 1 Feb 2013

"This missionary impulse has been at the core of 24-7 ever since the first Prayer Room.

Each team is chosen by 24-7 Prayer because they are friends of ours, building with 24-7 for the long term and pioneering into some pretty challenging and hardcore places. We have over ten years experience now in running these teams and they will be well led both before you go and once you hit the ground running!

Teams will have an emphasis on pray (a core of persistent 24-7 prayer), obey (a sacrificial way of serving the local people) and play (an opportunity to learn and enjoy your host community)."

What the team on the ground say:

Greece, one of Europe’s popular tourist countries, is known for its endless beaches and clear waters, but has lately become known for its financial crisis. Coming here you will see the beauty of the nation but you will also see and feel the results of a collapsing economy and the desperate need for hope.

Greece’s reputation as one hardest countries for mission is rapidly changing in a climate of increasing poverty. Coming here you will meet not only Greeks, but immigrants from former Soviet Union nations and gypsy children, the poorest of the poor in Europe.

Missional activities at the university and in town, prayer, work among the gypsy kids, creative events and the Balkan connect gathering in Ohrid.

Ibiza

What the team on the ground say:
“24-7 Prayer in Ibiza aim to show the love of God to the people we meet. Each year many people join one of our short term teams to bless, care for, serve, pray for and support the community here in San Antonio. We believe in blessing, not selling, trusting that it’s God’s kindness that leads us to repentance.”

The teams to Ibiza are now full, but there are still longer term mission opportunities. Visit the 24-7 Ibiza website for more details.

Iceland

What time on the ground say:
“Every year in the height of summer over 15,000 young people travel to the remote Westmann Islands off the south coast of Iceland for a weekend-long alcohol-fuelled party. The festival has often attracted attention for its wild and excessive partying, but many go searching for community and something deeper. YWAM Iceland and 24-7 Prayer are partnering for the 2nd year running to go to the islands during the festival and express God's presence among the party-goers.”

What will the short-term mission involve?:
We will begin with a week of 24-7 prayer before the festival on the islands and then we will spend 4 days during the festival walking around and loving and blessing people in any way we can! Ideas for this year include a small on-site hospitality tent for people to come and chat and receive prayer as well as walking around talking to people and giving out coffee, prayer and providing a listening ear.
