Journey in Prayer with the ArchbishopBrian Heasley - 11 Feb 2013
A team from 24-7 Prayer will be putting on their tour t-shirts and playing roadies for the man who has recently been chosen to lead the world’s 77 million Anglicans (the third largest group of Christians in the world.)
The new Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, will be making a prayer pilgrimage around the South of England in the days leading up to his enthronement. 24-7 Prayer are inviting as many people as possible to join him on this ‘Journey in Prayer’.
The Archbishop will visit one city on each day of the journey from the 14th to the 19th March, and spend that day in prayer. Those who join in will be able to pray in ways that reflect the broad traditions of Anglican spirituality and welcome all ages.
24-7 Prayer are serving the Archbishop by facilitating prayer zones in each Cathedral being visited. The dioceses on the journey will be:
Thursday 14th March – Norwich
Friday 15th March – Coventry
Saturday 16th March – London & Southwark
Monday 18th March – Truro
Tuesday 19th March – Chichester
Please remember to pray for the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury who is a passionate advocate for prayer, mission and justice. When he took over from N.T. Wright as Bishop of Durham just over a year ago, the first thing he did was a prayer pilgrimage around the diocese, even stopping to intercede beneath the iconic Angel of the North sculpture.
I am more and more convinced of the centrality of 24-7 Prayer to God’s work because it chimes with the spirit of the age”, he said at the time, pointing out prophetic and missional significance of what 24-7 Prayer does too: “We are at God’s moment, all the idols have fallen, and the task is to bring people face to face with Jesus. 24-7 Prayer does that for many.”
