Dangerously Creative Mission Team Needed in SpainTheresa Stone - 19 Feb 2013

Since the start of the 24-7 Prayer movement, a small group of Christians, led by Loida Fernandez and Aitor De La Camera in Burgos (a city two hours north from Madrid) felt connected to the 24-7 vision and started to meet to pray, worship and seek God for their town and the nation.
The group has been meeting through highs and lows and has seen great fruit from their prayer. Their desire is greater than ever before to see God move in Spain in 2013, and as part of this, a member of the community has opened a funky three level cafe in the centre of Burgos' old town.
Ágora is a relaxing, creative space were people can connect and innovate. It employs refugees and community members, bringing people from all walks of life together.
The cafe hosts an alternative children's bookshop and a co-working hub to facilitate social entrepreneurs. The community in Burgos also want to create a 24-7 Prayer room on the top level.
Aitor, who co-leads 24-7 Prayer in Burgos says:
"We are meeting lots of non-Christians in this place. There is a girl who is connected with us, and she is into new-age stuff. She came to one of gatherings and was really moved. Now she wants to know more about Christianity."
"There is another guy we've met, who is new age, and he had a vision to give a key to every person he felt a connection with. He gave a key to one of the guys in our community. We thought it was interesting, as in the Bible, God says he will give us the keys to the city; the Kingdom of God. The guy said how that idea made sense to him and now we see him every week. We are really praying for God to touch him in a really deep way."
The community holds weekly meetings, eats together once a month, and co-ordinates a monthly worship event; Radar. The group is highly creative as songwriters, musicians, and artists, and are very aware of the environment and social issues.
Aitor says: "We want to grow as a community that is open to everyone, and we want to be people who are gentle and graceful. We want to connect with people who share our struggles, difficulties and have their own stories that will help other people find God in a real and deep way. One of our biggest dreams right now is how to encourage other people to write songs and express in their own way."
What will short-term mission involve? Decorating the prayer room on the top floor, storytelling, activities for kids, Performance, art and photography exhibits, talks/workshops. Activities with Caritas (social charity). Trips out into the country, rural tourism: Covarrubias, Yecla, Silos, and, just maybe, some Tapas!
