Short term Mission: Turkish DelightRebecca Swarbrick - 4 Mar 2013
Could you be tempted?
Turkey is a fascinating country of more than 80 million people on the eastern edge of Europe, a bridge between Europe and Asia, east and west. The people are 98% Muslim, and there are many secular attitudes in the western parts. However God is on the move.
There is a recurrent prophecy of Holy Spirit fire breaking out in the west, and spreading eastwards. This is starting to be fulfilled as several churches are growing with new Turkish believers in Izmir , Turkey's 3rd largest city.
One of the churches in Izmir has been inspired by seasons of 24-7 Prayer during recent years. They have now sent a small group to plant a church in a local town - a town with no church for centuries.
This group would like a prayer team from 24-7 Prayer to visit during summer 2013. The church group are seeing many opportunities with local people, but recognise prayer is essential for the church to grow, and the kingdom of God to come more.
Joining this team would be a chance to be part of what God is doing amongst people in Turkey. It would give experience of serving in a Muslim culture, and also experience the legendary Turkish hospitality! There will also be a visit to one of the amazing ancient sites of this region.
What will short-term mission involve?:
