Journey in PrayerBrian Heasley - 5 Mar 2013

These are exciting and turbulent times for the church; we see change, trials and challenges all around us. More than ever the church is increasing in its desire to pray and we see the prayer lives of many churches growing throughout the world.

In the UK specifically, more prayer rooms were registered with 24-7 Prayer during January than ever before. God is on the move and his people are increasing in their fervor to connect with Him and call out to God for our nations.

Archbishop Justin Welby, who is the senior bishop of the Anglican Communion worldwide, is about to embark on a journey of prayer.

Archbishop Justin wants to mark the beginning of his leadership by going on a journey of prayer. So, in the days leading up to his enthronement, the new Archbishop will make a pilgrimage around the south of England, inviting as many people as possible to join him. The Archbishop will visit one city on each day of the journey, and spend that day in prayer. Those who join the Archbishop in prayer for GB will be able to pray in ways that reflect the broad traditions of Anglican spirituality. All ages will be welcome.

The Archbishop will be setting aside time to pray in five cathedrals from the 14th to 19th March, and you can join him through prayer or if you happen to be in the UK, by coming along. On each of these days, Archbishop Justin will be stationed in a different Cathedral solely to pray.

Venues

14th March: Norwich Cathedral,

15th March: Coventry Cathedral,

16th March: Southwark Cathedral & St Pauls Cathedral,

18th March : Truro Cathedral,

19th March: Chichester Cathedral

Specific timings in each location.

24-7 Prayer, in conjunction with the Cathedrals and Lambeth Palace in GB, will be providing various prayer zones where people can spend time talking to God in some of the most beautiful church settings in the world. Our nations need God in the midst of these difficult times, and we have the opportunity to set time aside and talk to God, who we know is the hope of the nations.

We expect this to be a deeply profound and inspiring experience.

24-7 Prayer needs some volunteers based in GB to help set up prayer zones in each Cathedral. If you are in the UK and you have time in the early morning, we would greatly appreciate your help. Please email
