Canada: 24-7 tribes gather in Calgary - 13 Apr 2005

It all got going late Friday afternoon when about 150 people from across Canada gathered in the beautiful sanctuary of St. Paul's Church in Calgary (home of the "Urban Monastery" - North America's very first Boiler Room!)

Last week's get together was the first time the tribes of 24-7 Canada gathered together in one place and the agenda was clear: to thank God for what He's been doing across our nation these past 4 years and to invite Him to continue to pour our blessing and increase a heartbeat of prayer, mission and justice!

Highlights:

  • Realizing there were people from at least half a dozen countries attending!
  • The dancers moving and grooving to the sounds of "The Vision" while the images from the new book scrolled in the background (well done Dave!)
  • Story sharing time on Friday night ... great stories
  • The fantastic Roast Beef supper that someone donated (!!) on Saturday night - yummy!!
  • Loud, rocking, and fun worship with Venere!!
  • Communion on Sunday morning ... clustering in groups with people we'd never met before, but really feeling like we are all brothers and sisters as the elements were shared ....
  • One girl said, "in my mind, seeing the urban monastery and meeting people who work and pray there made me re-evaluate what i do with my time, my money, my life ..."
  • Pete Greig's talk Saturday night on the "Fist size rain cloud" ... run for cover people, a storm is coming!!
  • The two guys off the street who stayed all night (both nights) to pray and then went out to feed the homeless
  • The workshops Saturday - learnt a tonne!
