Go to Iceland on MissionTheresa Stone - 20 Mar 2013

"Free coffee? Wow are you Jesus?!"

These were the words from a hung-over, bleary-eyed party goer as he stumbled out of his tent.

Every year in the height of summer over 15,000 young people travel to the remote Westmann Islands off the south coast of Iceland for a weekend-long alcohol-fuelled party.

The festival has often attracted attention for its wild and excessive partying, but many go searching for community and something deeper.

YWAM Iceland and 24-7 Prayer are partnering for the 2nd year running hoping to go to the islands during the festival and express God's presence among the party-goers. Last year a member of the team blogged about their experiences of bringing God's Kingdom among drunken partygoers online.

If you want to go to Iceland on mission this summer. A team will complete a week of 24-7 prayer before the festival on the islands and then spend four days walking around blessing people in anyways possible. Ideas for this year include a small on-site hospitality tent for people to come and chat and receive prayer as well as walking around talking to people and giving out coffee, prayer and providing a listening ear.
