When was the last time you were truly honest with God?

Reflect

Bible Reading: Matt 27:45-46 MSG

“From noon to three, the whole earth was dark. Around mid-afternoon Jesus groaned out of the depths, crying loudly, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”

Psalm 23:4

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

"Oh Jesus can you hear me? My soul is screaming out and my broken will cries teach me what your Kingdom's all about. Unite my heart to fear you, to fear your holy name, and create a life of worship in the spirit and truth of your loving ways.  In the silence You are speaking. In the quiet I can feel the fire and it's burning, burning deeply, burning all that it is that you desire to be silent, in me."
'In the SIlent', Lyrics by Jason Upton

The stillness, the silence.  Easter Saturday is such a profound day of the year where God says nothing. Have you ever been in a place of abandonment or experienced a time where it seemed like there was no light at the end of the tunnel and all hope was gone? Have you ever prayed and felt that all you got back was silence? You are not alone.

Respond

Silence does not mean absence. God is so present in our pain even when He is silent. Is there an area of your life where you feel that God is silent right now, where you keep praying but nothing happens or where you feel God has abandoned you? Today take some time to remember how Jesus went through the silence of Easter Saturday and have a real conversation with Him. Tell God about the pain, frustration and abandonment you may feel  and remember that He is more than qualified to meet you there.

Pray

God, thank you that you will never leave us nor forsake us, especially when we walk through the most difficult times of our life. Today help us remember what you experienced and that you walk with us through the pain.
