Mission Teams - Still Some Places Left!Rebecca Swarbrick - 26 Apr 2013
The deadlines for each of our mission teams are fast approaching but don’t worry, while some are full, others still have spaces available. In particular we want to highlight 2 great opportunities where you can help make a big difference – Burgos in Spain and Belfast in Northern Ireland. Ian Nicholson visited the Spanish team recently and writes:-
T
he 24-7 community in Burgos are a brilliant bunch – effervescent, creative, fun and committed to seeing God bring transformation to their city; they also love food! Burgos is a fascinating city – once the capital of Castile it was a monastic centre and is a major pilgrimage spot for tens of thousands of spiritual seekers on the Camino de Santiago, or Way of St James. Dominating the city is its huge Gothic Cathedral and just 100 metres away is ‘Agora‘.
We visited Agora on a Saturday morning and the café bar was packed on the ground floor with groups of friends, families and children.
The walls had pictures of many of the African refugees who have been helped to settle in Spain by the project.
On level 2 there were workshops taking place and the bookshop was buzzing. Level 3 is dedicated to helping businesses start and level 4 is where the 24-7 team comes in! This will be the prayer room and will be a centre for worship and intercession with views over the city.
It was inspiring to see a Christian base right in the heart of city life and reinforced our commitment to see this team work well. The dates are 7th – 14th July and we need at least 4 more people for it to work well. Spanish would be a bonus but certainly not essential - so fill in the form for Spain today!
With our International Gathering being in Dublin this year Ireland is a major focus for 24-7. The foundations have been laid in prayer and our summer mission team is in a project based right on the Peace Line. It is a new day for Belfast and the prayer and focus of 24-7 is that sectarian division will be healed and God’s Spirit will draw many people to him. This team will do prayer walking and seeking God for the community as well as helping out with the Storehouse, who feed the poor and help with local youth work.
Again this is a great opportunity and we need at least 4 more team members – so book now
The dates are 14th – 21st July so you could even do both teams!!
Other team spaces are available for Iceland, Romania and China but you need to get in fast. Email us with questions or take a look at all the summer mission teams available.
