Then something amazing happened...Scot Bower - 7 Jun 2013
There's a story in the bible where a little boy chooses to share his lunch with Jesus and something amazing happens... Hungry people got fed.
The little boy must have been hungry too. He'd been hanging around listening to the teacher as long as the rest of them. And he was the one who had remembered to bring something to eat!
If I'm honest when Peter and his gang started wandering amongst the crowd looking for lunch I'd probably have stuffed my face with the fish and hidden the loaves down my tunic! But the little boy in the story didn't. He shared... and when you share with Jesus anything can happen. Maybe it's time we started sharing and believing that something amazing might happen
2 million children die every year because they don't have enough to eat. That's shocking! And yet the world produces enough food for us all with plenty left over. That's disturbing!
The trouble is we just aren't very good at sharing. Rich countries (including mine) greedily over consume whilst developing nations often struggle to feed themselves. Even within our own countries urban poverty exists to such a degree that families can struggle to feed their children.
This new video from 24-7 Prayer in partnership with our friends at World Vision encourages us all to make a difference. Firstly we pray, it's all about Jesus, then we act, in the place of prayer our hearts are changed and we become world changers.
Why not stop and think about what are you wasting that you could be sharing? Maybe it's your time or your money or maybe you could just make a packed lunch and share it with a stranger?
The IF website carries a whole heap of resources to help us make some noise.
This generation, our generation, can end world hunger.
